Things didn’t go exactly to plan for Renault in Bahrain on Sunday. After qualifying a highly credible ninth, Robert Kubica dropped to the back of the order on lap one when he was hit by another car, before recovering to 11th, while rookie team mate Vitaly Petrov was forced to retire mid race with suspension problems. Luck may not have been on their side, but Renault technical director James Allison insists the R30 met their performance expectations…
