The Chinese Grand Prix has been on the Formula 1 World Championship calendar since 2004. When construction was completed for the Shanghai International Circuit in 2004 it was, at the time, the most expensive circuit in Formula 1. It is one of the most spectacular facilities of the championship. The track is designed to resemble the Chinese symbol ‘shang’ (which is the first character in the name of the city Shanghai) and contains a 1.2km straight where cars reach maximum speeds. It’s not a very technical track but, due to its shape, there are a lot of overtakings during races. | ||
