The Malaysian Grand Prix is part of the Formula 1 World Championsip since 1999. The Sepang International Circuit was built at the request of Dr. Mahatir Mohamad, the Malaysian president in the 90’s, as a part of his plan to fully industrialize the nation by 2020. Hermann Tilke was responsible for the design of the circuit and it is considered one of the most technical tracks on the calendar. The track itself is very wide and combines long high-speed straights with tight corners, offering many overtaking opportunities. Besides, the weather can vary dramatically during the weekend, going from intense heat to a tropical storm in a matter of seconds. | ||
