Singapore hosted the first ever night race in 2008 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. As of today, it continues to be the only Grand Prix to take place at night with artificial lighting designed to recreate daytime conditions. It’s an anti-clockwise circuit and is slow, narrow and bumpy with the action taking place very near to the barriers, meaning that there is no margin for error. Achieving a good setup is not an easy task since track conditions are constantly changing with the surface evolving and providing more grip as the days go by. Cooling of the engines in another vital factor at the Marina Bay Street Circuit since there are 23 turns, the majority being slow ones, which work the engine and give it little recovery time. It is also a physically demanding circuit for drivers because it is a long race with a lot of turns that takes place in hot and humid conditions. | ||
