As many of you may know HRT din not have the change to test it’s new car F111 in the winter sessions, and they were aiming for a run in last day in Barcelona, but due to late arrival of certain parts (dampers) of the car, this were not release in time from customs, but Colin Kolles, Hispania Racing Team Principal did not seem overly concerned and he said: “Unfortunately we could not get the dampers out of customs. The result of this is that we can´t run tomorrow. This is life and we will overcome this problem.”
In the light of this events Melbourne will be the first test of the car on track but the drivers and team seems to be optimistic about it, and they said that main focus will be on mileage, because the cars needs that in order to be properly adjusted. Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan said: “Even though it was disappointing to not be able to drive the new car in Barcelona, I’m sure the car is a significant step forward from last year’s,” “It certainly looks the business, we just have to wait until Friday morning in Melbourne to put it all into practice”, also he added this: ‘”I think Albert Park will be a great place to start off with the new F111 since it’s not a very demanding track. For a new and unproven car such as ours, I think that reliability is something we need to work on before we can start to extract the maximum performance, so I believe that if both cars finish the race, we will have had a satisfying weekend”.
Tonio Liuzzi also agrees that before they will actually make some miles with the car they don’t really know what to expect out of this season, but both drivers as well as the team manager Colin Kolles seem to be optimistic about this season.
