The new McLaren MP4-27 was launched

Posted by Mike F1 under F1 - News

McLaren MP4-27 Technical Launch 2012   The  McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, unveiled today in London the new car for 2012 season, the so called MP4-27, a car that has the most updated mechanical systems and a totally reworked rear.
The presentation took place at the team headquarters in Woking (London), McLaren revealed the appearances and technical characteristics of a car that they think will be able  to challenge Red Bull for both titles this year. The car will touch asphalt for the first time next Tuesday at the Spanish circuit of Jerez.
The new silver arrow MP4-27, is an evolution of the last year car who won for the McLaren team six World Cup races and finished second in the Constructors Championship while Jenson Button also finished second in driver’s Championship.
Its main technical innovations are to be seen in the rear part where the body work has been redesigned to improves the aerodynamics of the car and to accommodate an upgraded cooling system, which will improve the oil cooled gearbox. After uncovering Lewis Hamilton described the new McLaren as having "the most refined aesthetics seen in the latest years". Lewis is confident that his 6th season with the British team will be a strong one, and the 2008 world champion said about the team that: "is working from a solid foundation," and "never surrender" and because of this is always "getting stronger".
Janson Button added that the presentation of the new car shows the "hard work" that the team has put in the construction of the new MP4-27. "We have to thank the guys who have been working overtime this winter to develop this car," said the British pilot, who will be headed now to Jerez for the next week, when the tests will begin and where all can see what MP4-27 is all about.

Fernando_Alonso_Silverstone

Fernando Alonso, with his Ferrari has won his first Formula 1 Grand Prix  for the 2011 season and this was the British GP at the newly upgraded Silverstone circuit.

Fernando Alonso took advantage over the some small seconds lost by Red Bull in the pits during the second stop in order to overcome Webber and Vettel,  but this was not the main reason why the Spaniard  fly to his victory today but the pace he had witch was way above the Red Bull’s.

In addition, Lewis Hamilton from McLaren helped Alonso keeping Vettel at bay.  Hamilton had  great race but due to fuel concerns he had to slow down and finished 4th just ahead of Massa which he fought to the last corner of the race.

…and it’s Started – Melbourne 2011

Posted by Mike F1 under F1 - News

F111-Tonio-Liuzzi-Melbourne  Busy morning and afternoon in Melbourne, with almost all the team get out there in track, minus one, HRT, yes you guess right, they were unable to make any laps in the first practice and Tonio Liuzzi only made 1 lap in the second session. And while they were optimistic before Melbourne I thing that I a great chance that they along with Virgin which managed to get out there and do some testing will be unable to beat the 107% rule. So if this goes on I guess this year will see less cars on the track than last year. Keep in mind for now this are only speculations but they were fueled by Timo Glock declarations who has admitted that Virgin might struggle to qualify for the Australian Formula One Grand Prix now that the FIA has reintroduced the old 107 percent qualifying rule for 2011, and, based on the times we see on the board, it means cars must be within about 6 seconds of the Q1 pole time on Saturday to qualify for the Melbourne grid, Timo concern is very real because according to the time table both Virgins were 2 seconds behind the 107% time, and to set an even bigger setback for HRT, it appears that front wing of their car did not meet the mandatory crash test and they will be forced to use the 2010 nose, and almost everyone is believing that they will be unable to qualify.

Sebastian Vettel - Fireman

I must say I liked the race from Sunday it had little bit of everything and if it weren’t for the long race behind the safety cars I think it could have been even more entertaining. We all saw Mark Webber hitting the walls and loosing vital points in his fight for the title, but this was at the beginning what was more interesting happened at the end when Vettel managed to blow his engine only 10 laps to go, and how he did that? well easy pushing the car hard and trying to match Alonso’s great lap times. Finally…

Posted by Mike F1 under Uncategorized

Less then 24h guys until friday practice in Bahrain will start, and we will have four (4) world champions on track, two of them team-mates at McLaren (Button and Hamilton) one racing for Ferrari  (Alonso) and of course the man with most titles racing for the brand new team Mercedes GP team (Schumacher). Today i woke up full with energy and with a worm feeling in my hearth even that last night some snow managed it’s way down to the ground and it’s covering most of the landscape, and to complete the greatness of this morning my girlfriend decided to make me a nice surprise for breakfast and indeed it was, as celebration for upcoming new Formula1 season and the first race of Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix because there can be no race watching and enjoying on an empty stomach, so because an image is worth a thousand words here it is:

Tasty Formula1
